Nick Bothfeld

Financial Advisor

Nick has been a financial planner and investment advisor since 2003, after a successful career in the corporate world. In his last position, he was part of the senior management team at Morningstar®, the highly respected financial information company best known for its star ratings of mutual funds.

His practice involves financial planning and investment advising for a select group of clients, providing personalized service tailored specifically to their needs. Nick handles client investments using asset management programs available through Commonwealth Financial Network®. He can take advantage of available capital market analysis, asset allocation models, and open architecture structure, allowing him to use the best money managers in the business.

Nick holds the FINRA Series 7 (General Securities) and Series 66 (Investment Adviser Representative and Uniform Securities Agent State Law) securities registrations through Commonwealth. Nick is a registered managing principal, having passed the FINRA Series 24 (General Securities Principal) exam. 

Nick received his undergraduate degree from Harvard University, magna cum laude, and earned his MBA from the University of Chicago. Nick also obtained his Chartered Retirement Planning CounselorSM designation from the College for Financial Planning. He and his wife live in Lake Forest, Illinois, and they have two grown children. His son, Ned, joined the practice and lives in Evanston. In his free time, you will often find Nick on the tennis court or hiking and fishing in the Northwoods of Michigan's Upper Peninsula. Nick and his wife, Bobbie, love to travel and enjoy birdwatching trips. Nick also gives back to the community by serving on nonprofit boards for a range of causes, from environmental to the local Gorton Community Center. 

 

 

Ned Bothfeld, AIF®

Financial Advisor

Ned joined Bothfeld Financial Partners in 2015 after spending three years in Washington, DC, working for a government relations firm specializing in transportation safety. Prior to that, Ned lived and worked in China for three years after graduating from college.

Ned is an integral member of Bothfeld Financial Partners, working closely with all clients to assist with their financial and wealth management needs.

He holds the FINRA Series 7 (General Securities) and Series 66 (Investment Adviser Representative and Uniform Securities Agent State Law) securities registrations through Commonwealth Financial Network®. Ned also holds the Accredited Investment Fiduciary® designation.  He is also a licensed life and health insurance agent and holds appointments with numerous companies.

Ned is a graduate of Miami University in Oxford, Ohio (BA, 2008), and received his certificate in financial planning after completing coursework at Georgetown University's School of Continuing Studies.

Ned was a founding member of the Young Professional Council of The Alliance for the Great Lakes (YPC), a Chicago-based nonprofit dedicated to protecting the Great Lakes. As a founding member of the YPC, he helped develop a grant program to support small-scale community projects aimed at protecting and improving the Great Lakes. He also served on the Auxiliary Board of the Rebuilding Exchange, which is also a Chicago-based nonprofit dedicated to sustainability and diverting waste by creating a market for reclaimed building materials and providing education and job training programs.

Ned lives in Evanston with his wife Emily, son Brown, and daughter Hunter. In his free time, he can be found playing pickup basketball and squash in various gyms around the Chicago area.
